Vlogging conversations and identity chatter
It very well may appear as though I have fallen disturbingly in love with vlogging. As in, it is bordering on “a problem.” That might be true.
Over at this collaboration channel we have been having these fantastic conversations, and it has been so much more interactive than this blog.
Granted, part of this has to do with the structure of my blog. Yes, we can all laugh about how I can’t walk properly, but there’s not much conversation to have there. Some of what this project has done for me is suggest new and better ways to go about writing for this blog. When all of this VEDA nonsense is over, hopefully I will start making time to do that.
But the fact that this channel is the effort of multiple people on equal footing makes it inherently different. I also find that the ways I am able to edit myself are distinct (from blogging) and fewer. It is forcing me to alter the way that I approach topics, and that has been incredibly exciting.
So yes, I am unashamedly in love with this vlog project. The best part is that I don’t particularly care if anyone but the five of us is even watching, because I am having so much fun doing it.
That being said, I’m still going to push that project here because it does mean so much to me. If you care to watch, here’s my video from this week. We have been having a conversation about identity for the last week or so. While I have no doubt that you can follow this video on its own, it really is part of a larger conversation and much of its meaning is lost without that.
The conversation started at the tail end of last week, but has primarily taken place over the course of the five videos we posted this week and if you are interested in this sort of thing (conversations about identity) it might be worth watching the whole lot of them, starting with Gaëlle’s video on Monday. Their videos are a lot better; mine is mostly rehashing things that they said. Also, everyone else speaks at a normal human speed, so there’s that.
